James Zink - Embarking on a Career in Professional Rodeo

James Zink is at the outset of a professional rodeo career and competes regularly at amateur venues such as Tejas Rodeo. Starting in 2025, he has embarked on a summer rodeo tour competition and taught roping skills in Montana. James Zink’s objective is to compete in events of the World Series of Team Roping (WSTR). He’s working toward Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) membership and pro-PRCA athlete status.

Mr. Zink gained formative experience as a laborer and ranch hand at a Durango, Colorado, ranching operation his family has maintained for more than a century. Among the areas he excelled in were operating farm equipment and he also worked to manage weed and shoe and care for horses.

Mr. Zink’s experience extends to operating excavators, backhoes, loaders, and skid steers on construction sites and he helped develop a Durango-area mountain roller coaster. He has also built structural foundations and dug trench lines for various building projects. As a high school student, he competed in baseball, football, and wrestling.
